What Are You Looking For?

Most of us have heard the phrase “looking for love in all the wrong places…”. But we humans don’t stop at looking for love in the wrong places, we look for pretty much everything else in the wrong places, too. Today’s devotional by Louie Giglio, reposted from faithgateway.com, tackles that tendency head on and offers us instead the one place we can find all we’re looking for.

Right now, He’s asking you the same question He asked Peter and the disciples. Jesus is looking at your familiar patterns of living and asking, “How’s that working for you?” He’s not asking for any information from you. He already knows how it’s working out for you. He’s giving you the opportunity to form the words in your heart and mind that affirm the reality of what’s happening. Once we affirm that reality, then God is able to restore us.

Follow Me

Today’s devotional is a repost by Roy Lessin. – Good stuff!

“As for you, follow me.” John 21:22 (NLT)

Jesus is your Shepherd. As your Shepherd His call to you is “follow Me.” Following is how you know His will for you as you move through your day.

He does not say to you, “Give me your list of all you have planned today so that I may know how to walk with you and meet your needs.” Also, He does not say to you, “Here is the list that I have prepared for you to walk in today…do the list, one thing at a time, and check things off as you do them.”

As you follow Him, your walk is a walk of faith, not a walk of lists. His will is revealed through your relationship with Him. You will know His will, not as you look around to see where others are going or what they are doing, but as you look to Jesus and see where He is going and what He is doing.

His will is not known or done apart from Him. Follow Him—the work He wants to do through you today is something He may not be leading anyone else to do.”

Baptism Sunday

The JCC family celebrated with three individuals this past Sunday as they followed the steps of Jesus in water baptism. Richard, Harry, and Nate all expressed a desire to be water baptized following an invitation from Pastor Marlan after the service a couple of weeks ago, and were baptized Sunday morning. Congratulations, guys!
