Game On!

If you live in the Anchorage area and are age 4 years through 6th grade – or you have kids or grandkids that are – it’s time to get your game on. Joy Christian Center is offering a mega sports camp day camp for the kiddos. The daycamp runs from July 9-13 9 AM to 3 PM each day. A snack and lunch are provided. The kids will have a blast doing crafts, playing sport games, singing songs, building character, and learning more about Jesus. Sign up at akjoy.com/events. Call 349-0255 for more information.

One Month to Live

We are beginning a new adult Bible study series tonight, April 4th. It is a 6 week class. It’s a wonderful series that can be a life changer. The class is about an hour long from 7-8 PM and will run each Wednesday PM ending May 9th. It is a DVD series and we will watch the video and discuss what we’ve learned. There is a book to go with the series that has a brief daily reading to help internalize the lessons. If you live in the Anchorage area we would love to have you join us.

A New Adventure

We will be having a farewell lunch for Pastor Marlan and Pastor Ruth Sunday, March 25th following the morning service. More details will follow. There is no weekly sermon this week; it did not record properly; we apologize. You can, however, read this month’s newsletter on the Publications page.

You Are a Treasure to God

Joy Christian Center would like to invite those of you who are in the Anchorage area to join us for our annual Valentine’s get together. The Theme this year is Treasure Island:¬† You are a Treasure to God. This is not a couples only event, and you don’t have to attend JCC to come have fun with us. There will be good food, live music provided by our Samoan friends, prizes, and games. Join us Sunday, February 11th at 5:30 PM at 4335 Laurel Street. If you have questions you can call 907-301-4803 for more information.

Kindness and Compassion

Most people appreciate it when someone shows them compassion when they goof things up, but it can be difficult to extend the same compassion to others when they make a mess of things. Particularly when what they do adversely affects them. Pastor Marlan’s Sunday message emphasizes the need to treat others with kindness and compassion. There are some big changes – really big – coming to Joy Christian Center. Our founding pastors, Ruth and Marlan Schoenleben¬† announced their resignation Sunday morning. They put forth the Children/Youth pastors, Pastor Caleb and Pastor Shayna Bialik, as candidates for the ministry team who will take over the reins of JCC. Members will vote on this during the upcoming Annual Business meeting February 25th. Pastor Marlan and Pastor Ruth’s last day will be April 1st, East Sunday of this year. You can click on the arrow below to listen to what the pastors had to say about this upcoming change.

Please take time to read this month’s newsletter found on the Publications page of this blog.
