Popcorn, potato chips, French fries, the list of salty things that we love to munch on could go on and on. And what would eat an egg or beef jerky or smoked fish be without salt. Salt flavors our world. It also was used in the past as a preservative. At one time it was called “white gold” because it was more difficult to obtain and worth, well, its weight in gold because of all of its variety of uses. Salt makes you really thirsty when you eat it, though. Although salt greatly enhances the flavor of food, it can make you feel so thirsty you feel like you could drink a river dry sometimes. Jesus compared us as believers to salt. He said we are to flavor our world and make the people around us thirsty for God.
