Water Baptism

baptismWater baptism is an important part of church life. When an individual comes to faith in Christ it is part of the normal progression in the Christian life that they follow Christ in baptism. This coming Sunday morning, March 2nd, JCC will be having a water baptism service in the 10:30 AM service. We already  have several people who will be baptized Sunday, but there’s room for more.  If you have accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord and would like to be baptized in water, please come to the Baptism Class that will be held this evening, February 26th at 7 PM at Joy Christian Center 4335 Laurel Street. You must take the class before being baptized, so please make plans to attend if you want to be baptized.  Call 349-0255 or email for more information.

The One Question Pop Quiz

Picture1In school one of the most dreaded things a student might hear are the words “pop quiz today”. It’s do or die; either you listened in class and are prepared or, well… Thankfully most pop quizzes don’t determine your entire grade, so flunking a pop quiz probably won’t mean a failing grade for the class. However, there is coming a pop quiz of sorts that every human on the planet, past, present, and future, will have to take. This “pop quiz” will have eternal ramifications far beyond flunking a class and losing a credit. If you flunk this test you don’t just flunk a class, you flunk life and you lose everything. This quiz has only one true or false question that you must answer: Jesus Christ is the Lord and Savior of my life T/F. The correct answer will determine your final, eternal destination. If you are a Jesus follower you can rest assured that you have the correct answer – which is a very good thing for you. Nonetheless, there are those who currently cannot give a “T” answer, and are in danger of flunking life. It is our job as those who do  have the assurance of the correct answer, if at all possible, to help those who do not yet have that assurance. If you would like to formally join the JCC church family or be baptized in water please be sure to fill out a card during the service and/or let the pastors know. A New Member class and a water baptism class will be offered soon, so be watching for further announcements.

Friday Recap

The Men of Joy gathered for the first time in several months tonight. They met in the Fellowship Hall enjoying pizza and taquitos while they watched some videos. Men’s leader Ed Ash brought a short devotional and closed out the meeting.

Meanwhile, in the conference room, some of the ladies met to work  on craft projects. A Rainbow Loom on one end of the table, a knitting project, a few crochet projects, and an embroidery project on the other end of the table rounded out the collection of crafters. Some of the crafters made hats and scarves to donate to the Sock-it-to-Me ministry.
